Blue Gum Eucalyptus, Latin name: Eucalyptus Globulus, is one of the tallest tree species in the world, capable of growing to a height of 50 meters. It mainly grows in southern Australia, South America, and Spain, and is also cultivated in provinces such as Yunnan, Guangxi, Guangdong, and Fujian in China.
The Eucalyptus tree, also known as the eucalypt, is the national tree of Australia. In New South Wales, Australia, there is a mountain range called the Blue Mountains. It got its name because of the vast number of eucalyptus trees growing there, which are lush and green. The volatile aromatic substances in the eucalyptus trees, when naturally evaporated, form oil droplets that refract sunlight in the air, creating a blue haze, hence the name Blue Mountains.
The Eucalyptus tree is also known as the "lonely tree" because it releases an aromatic substance for self-defense to prevent other pests from climbing on its branches. The allelopathic nature of the eucalyptus tree also suppresses the growth of other tree species by releasing chemical inhibitors from its roots, dead branches, and fallen leaves, thereby reducing the viability of other plants.
