LAVANDIN GROSSO FRANCE EO
  • essential oil
INCI Name
LAVANDULA HYBRIDA OIL
Product Introduction

Lavandin Grosso France EO is widely used in body care and home care products.

It blends well with labdanum, oakmoss, vetiver, patchouli, pine needle oil, coumarin, sage, cyclamen, and fougère fragrances.

Lavandula hybrida, known as Lavandin, is a hybrid variety of Lavandula angustifolia (true lavender) and Lavandula latifolia (spike lavender).

True lavender typically grows at higher altitudes on mountaintops, while spike lavender grows at lower altitudes at the foot of mountains. Although they are spaced apart, the initial hybridization of lavandin occurred due to insect pollination. It inherits a higher content of linalyl acetate from true lavender but also a higher composition of eucalyptol and camphor from spike lavender.

Lavandin is further divided into three main varieties: Lavandin Abrial, Lavandin Grosso, and Super Lavandin. Lavandin Grosso was discovered by a farmer named Monsieur Grosso in the Sénas area of the Vaucluse department in France, from a cultivation area affected by wilt disease. He found a particularly sturdy, green, flowering plant and used it to propagate 1700 cuttings, which he distributed to his friends. To this day, Lavandin Grosso has become the most widely cultivated variety in the Provence region of France due to its fine aroma and high oil yield.
