Lessonia was founded in 2002 by Christophe Winckler. The company specializes in the production of raw materials for cosmetic companies and in the subcontracting of cosmetic products.

Starting with seaweed, which is a symbol of the richness of the sea and the culture of Brittany, LESSONIA has expanded its activities to include the micronization of botanical raw materials.

In its willingness to innovate, LESSONIA has joined forces with a number of research institutes in order to reach the top of the technological ladder and to develop innovative research and development.

LESSONIA collaborates with INSERM (French National Institute of Health Medical research) on various projects related to skin biology and with the Roscoff College of Marine Biology (CNRS). This partnership not only enhances the company's knowledge of identifying bioactive molecules in seaweeds, but also optimizes its expertise in marine glycobiology through the transfer of technology for enzymatic processes.

LESSONIA is also the main cosmetic company of the European research project GENIALG - GENetic diversity exploitation for Innovative macro-ALGal biorefinery. LESSONIA, with so many years of experience focusing on the in-depth development of seaweed resources and seaweed applications, is today considered a major supplier to the French and international cosmetic industry.

With a strong development strategy, the company has taken the plunge and gone international. Currently, LESSONIA exports 70% of its turnover in foreign trade.
